Problem Solving Inspections & Reports
- Problem with Building Work Inspection - inspection of this type helps you assess problems with building work that's been done on your property and may have resulted in defects or wasn't completed to the contract specifications. This service available Australia-wide.
- Problem Solving Inspection - when there is a problem with your property like minor cracks, peeling paint and mildew in the cupboards, cracks in walls, internal and external, poor drainage around or under your home, leaking roof, this type of inspection may help you find the source of the problem and will give you an indication on how to get it fixed. This inspection type currently available in Sydney suburbs area only.
- Architects Advice Report - when you have a particular issue with your property and you would like to know the best possible solution to it, this inspection will accomplish just that!! This service is available Australia-wide.
- Timber Inspections - you will benefit from having this inspection done if you recently installed new timber flooring that doesn't appear to look right or you have an existing floor that had sunk or requires maintenance but you not sure how to do it. This inspection is available in Sydney Suburbs area only.
- Dampness and Waterproofing Inspection - this type of inspection is useful when you have moisture penetrating through concrete flooring or walls of your house, retaining wall, or you suspect that you may have a concrete cancer and want to know the best solution to the problem. This inspection can be arranged for Sydney Suburbs area only and carried out on residential and commercial properties.
- Structural Engineers Report - usually required when you have structural concerns about your property, underpinning problems, cracks in walls and ceilings, doors hard to open or close. Inspection Services, a brief history

The Building Centre pioneered Residential Property Inspections in Australia in February 1984.
Until that time people with building or renovating problems were assisted by telephone or face-to-face consultations in The Building Centre. Managing Director, David Kessler recognised that a different form of help was required as many of the client's needs could only be properly assessed by actually seeing the problem on-site.
In 1984, Mr Gino Pasquali, a retired Builder and a full-time member of The Building Centre's advisory team became our first full-time Property Inspector.
In 1985 we recognised that home buyers had no one to turn to who was experienced in finding defects in building work, who was impartial and technically competent to check their prospective home purchase. Accordingly, the "Pre-Purchase Inspection" format was devised and the service launched. This service included an extensive list of all areas required thorough visual inspection with the findings confirmed in a typed report, which included the thorough checklist. In 1987 the use of dampness testing meters was added and was an additional extra "Pest And Termite Inspection" (PATI) carried out by an experienced pest control company. Today Pre-Purchase Inspections (PPI) have become a whole industry with its own Australian Standard and in many states such PPI inspection is compulsory. As the demand grew, a manager was required to oversee the business and the first person appointed as Inspections Manager was an experienced, retired architect Alan Eedy. Successive managers of this long established business and highly regarded pioneering service included Dieter Mylius, David Santili, Amber Mackey, Michael Enderby and Barry Horan. Today, with the introduction of an expanded panel of experts who we call Quality Professional Consultants (QPC), David Kessler has returned to overseeing its operation. We can arrange residential property as well as commercial property inspections and reports, in many areas of specialty, around Australia.
