NSW OHS (Occupational Health & Safety) Workshop in Sydney's CBD: OHS Construction Induction Certificate (White Card).

Looking for a job working on a building or construction site in New South Wales? Planning to build in NSW as an Owner Builder?

Successfully undertaking and complete this 'face to face' Workshop, will result in you obtaining a White Card in compliance with and as administered by the Workcover Authority of New South Wales - (The White Card as it is now known, was previously called a Green Card).

Obtaining and holding a White Card is required by people:

  • Intending to carry out construction work, including site managers, supervisors, surveyors, labourers and trades persons.
  • Intending to access operational construction zones unaccompanied or not directly supervised by an inducted person.
  • Whose employment causes them to routinely enter operational construction zones.
  • Intending to obtain an Owner Builder Permit in NSW, and holding a White Card is prerequisite to persons intending to enrol and undertake the 91509NSW Course in Owner Builder Compliance, either attending a Workshop or by Correspondence.

Course Aims and Contents

The aim of this accredited safety training course is to provide you, your family, the authorities and your employers with the peace of mind that you are aware of the need to be vigilant about on-the-job safety.

For aspiring Owner Builders, this OH&S Course will educate you to understand potential work site risks, best practice procedures to follow and what to do in the case of a mishap or accident. Importantly it will help you be aware of and help you manage the potentially significant risks and responsibilities of those who will be  working on your owner builder site, for which you will be fully responsible and liable.

OHS (Occupational Health and Safety) Construction Induction training provides an awareness and understanding of:

  • Familiarising you with current legislation including the rights and responsibilities under OHS law.
  • Identifying, assessing and controlling common workplace hazards and risks in the construction industry.
  • Basic risk management principles.
  • The standard of behaviour expected of workers on construction sites.
  • Your rights should an issue arise.
  • Handling emergencies and injury management.
  • Your OH&S responsibilities whilst working on site.

Course Workshop Information

  • Days Held: Six (6) days a week, Mondays to Saturdays, except for public holidays.
  • Location: In the CBD within a 5 minute walk from Town Hall Station.
  • Maximum Student Numbers: 20.
  • Time Start: Office Registration (including ID checking) from 9:30am.
  • Course Duration: 10am (promptly) to 4:30pm approximately (including a lunch break. Lunch is not provided) 6 classroom hours.
  • Upon successfully completing the course you will be issued with your White Card at the end of the Workshop.

Identification (I.D.) Requirements

 I.D. : 100 Identification Points are required, and must include as evidence of you - your Name, your current residential Address, a Photo, a Signature and your Date of Birth. Examples of acceptable identification documentation includes:

  • Passport: 70 points
  • NSW (only) Driver's Licence: 40 points
  • Medicare Card: 25 points
  • Bank or Credit Card Statements - two (2) different statements: 25 points
